Preface
You DO know how to use the "BACK" button, don't you? You'll need it!
OBJECTIVE:
Gain an insight into your own self: culturally, individually, ethnocentrically, personally, ... any way you wanna look at it!
TASK:
Learn another language.
PERPLEXED?

It takes effort, discipline, devotion, understanding, patience, more effort, repetition, brain-racking, groping, hand signals and gesticulations, and utterances. Add a cup of coffee in there somewhere, too.

This is where you can begin your learning adventure!
YOU CAN LEARN another language.
You speak English. You know lots of people, and they probably speak English. You even know some idiots. What do they speak? English???
Well, if idiots can speak English, - don't include yourself in there!!! - then it must be the same with any other language.
All it takes is PRACTICE.

Whether it's Spanish, or German, or whatever language: ... You CAN learn it.
The greatest challenge is: Have you forgotten how to play? ... how to pretend? ... how to "talk to yourself?"
Well, this site provides lots of vocabulary, lots of "language explanations," lots of technical stuff (grammar).
But, ... it's presented in conjunction with the Internet, --- the whole gambit of "stuff" out there: you should be able to hit sites, describe what you see, talk about the site in another language, play with information (recite numbers & prices), read through foreign newspapers and understand more and more, ... while at the same time hitting sites you'd normally visit for shopping or learning or searching or ... WHATEVER!!!
Go from page to page, clicking links as they appear. Run your mouse cursor over every item, and see where the links lead you. These are "learning tools" throughout the site.
Visit other sites, do searches, but above all else, do the same thing you did as a 2-year-old.
SPEAK !!!
When you get to another website (especially if it's in another language), read some out loud. Don't worry about comprehending or understanding. You won't understand everything. You didn't understand everything as a child, and it was okay. Your reading skills and pronunciation will improve, and eventually (after you've learned more vocabulary) you WILL understand more & more.
In this website, THE WORLD IS YOUR TEXTBOOK.
Follow instructions if they are given, and don't be afraid to go off in any tangent you want.
Don't let the information on any particular pages scare you!
You can visit them again & again. Just as in real life vocabulary appears and reappears, the same will happen here.
You don't need to try to learn every word on every page, ... just learn the ones you want to, a few at a time. Practice these, and practice these, and practice them !!! Then practice some more.
More vocabulary will appear so many times that many words will become second nature all by themselves, just like the words to songs you hear on the radio, never "memorize," but just somehow know as time goes on.
If you learn 2 words a day, or 5, or 75, it won't ingrain unless YOU SAY THEM OVER & OVER.
The more exposure you provide yourself with, the more you will learn. The more you listen to, the faster you'll learn. The more you speak, the sooner you'll speak the language.
Visit this site 5 times a week, and you'll speak more than you thought possible in a very short period of time.
This site does not contain every word in the Spanish or German languages. Don't expect it to. No one that I know of knows every word in English, nor even every word in one particular dictionary.
Every attempt has been made to provide as much basic vocabulary as possible, but I'm sure there are words missing. For this reason, you should get a dictionary to help you in your learning - but only after working at it seriously for a few weeks. If you find that your abilities are increasing, and you're certain that you will continue, then GET A DICTIONARY!!!
A very valuable recourse is to surround yourself with as much foreign language as possible, by acquiring children's books, Spanish videos, Spanish music, German dictionaries, German films, etc. - and resorting to their use as frequently as possible. This "self-immersion" technique enhances your learning tremendously.
And please visit site sponsors, so that this site can remain FREE to all !!!
Thank you !!!
