Spanish Lessons: Batch 1 - Lesson 03

OBJECTIVE:	Learn about how syllables are formed in Spanish.
TASK:	Listen to the sound files and repeat them many, many times, looking at the letters and letter combinations to LEARN THEM right off the bat !!!!
PERPLEXED?	Who wouldn't be ??? Some of the words don't even LOOK like words !!!

Lección Tres

Pronunciation is an easy task to learn in reading Spanish. Most of the words are combinations of (consonant-vowel) sounds - which sound just like they look. You just have to know how to pronounce each letter in the word.

You achieve the basic "similar" sounding letters on this page - and can go on to different sounding letters in the next lesson.

You're on a roll now !!!

¡HOLA!

Yeah, ... that means "Hello!" in Spanish.

Or, ... that's one way of saying it.

Notice that the word is comprised of 2 syllables: HO + LA.

Going back to what you've learned already, the "H" is silent, so HO sounds just like "O."

And the "A" just has an "L" placed in front of it, which doesn't change a thing about how the "A" is gonna be pronounced.

It's always "A."

Now go through the vowels a couple of times, then READ ON !!!

Now in thinking about it, if you put an "L" in front of all of these, ...

you're gonna end up with:.

That's because the "L" doesn't sound any different in Spanish than it does in English.

Hmmmm, ...

I wonder what happens if you put an "M" in front of these letters ... !!!

How about if we put an "N" in front of 'em --- ???

Let's try a "W" before each vowel:

I bet you don't remember what the "H" sounds like in front !!!

Here's a good one!

Let's try "Ch" in front:

cha

che

chi

cho

chu

Don't forget that "Ch" is a single letter!

If you go to look for entries of "Ch" words in the "C" section of the dictionary, it ain't gonna be there!
