©RCAguilar
OBJECTIVE:
Ah, yes ... great Master of the Universe, ... Father Time !!! You're here to pay homage to HIM, ok?
TASK:
Watch the clock! Watch the clock! When it hits on the hour SAY-WHAT-TIME-IT-IS really, really fast ... en español.
PERPLEXED?
It could just be that you really are learning something. Or maybe some thinking is going on. Stop it! It might go away if you ignore it!
¿Qué hora es ?
Learning to tell time obviously includes needing to know the numbers.
For now, we're just working with the numbers from 1 thru 12, and just telling the exact hour.
If you don't know 0 through 9 and 10 through 19 yet, click on one of these blue links and get yourself there!

Time Words

In the process of telling time,

... if the hour is anywhere from 1:00 through 1:59,

the verb form is singular

--- pretty much because 1 (one) is singular.

Any other hour (i.e., 2 or more - all the way through 12) is plural,

... so the verb is plural.

The singular verb form with "1" is "ES."

The plural verb form with "2 or more" is "SON."

The question for "What time is it?" uses your Spanish "¿Qué es?" plus "la hora" for "the hour."

¿Qué
hora
es ?
What hour is (it)?

¿Qué hora es ?
What time is it?
Click on the clocks below to hear and REPEAT each hour. I know that some of you don't remember or never even learned how to read "a clock" - but that's just another symptom of the digitalera. Relax. As long as you can ask ¿Qué hora es? en español, somebody will probably stick a digital something in your face and you'll be all right.
Es la una.
Son las dos.
Son las tres.
Son las cuatro.
Son las cinco.
Son las seis.
Son las siete.
Son las ocho.
Son las nueve.
Son las diez.
Son las once.
Son las doce.

EXERCISE:

Go through the day telling yourself what time it is. Just use the hour for now. If it's 5:15, then tell yourself "It's 5:00."

Do this exercise for a few days, until YOU are can deal with on-the-hour time-telling.

This site has come a long way since it started, and it has taken a lot of learning on my part to simplify, simplify, simplify.

I hope that the results make it easier for you.
