present participle of a verb is the -ing
form in English. |
to
walk -> walking |

drive -> driving |
to
swim -> swimming |

This
verb form can stand alone modifying what is going on such
as:

by myself, ... |

Swimming
ashore, ... |
In
these cases, the action is happening as a background for
more information that is about to be provided. |

You
can also use this form in English with the verb "to
be" in order to form the progressive tenses. |

In
each case, there is a different form of "to
be." That means, you use a conjugated form of
TO BE to make the progress
in the sentences work out. The participle form of the verb
never changes for anybody or for any timeframe. |
